Shelves, not a search box
Nobody browses a small bookshop by typing. They walk to a shelf. Categories do that job here: staff picks, translated fiction, poetry, secondhand. Four good shelves beat two hundred titles in one flat list, and they give you something to post about each week.
The staff note is the product page
A bookshop sells the note more than the blurb. Two honest sentences about who the book is for, written by the person who read it, do more than the publisher copy everybody else is also using. Put the note first in the description and the blurb after it.
Keep stock honest on one copy
Secondhand and signed copies are single items, and nothing loses a reader faster than paying for a copy that went yesterday. Set the stock to one and let the shop mark it gone. The listing can stay visible so the recommendation survives the sale.
Sell the reading, not only the book
Bundles work in a bookshop because taste is the product. Three books on a theme, priced together, is a thing a chain cannot do well. Gift cards cover the people buying for somebody else who reads more than they do.
What to do each week
Post one recommendation in your channel, with the shop button under it. That rhythm is the whole marketing plan for most independent shops, and it works here because the tap from the recommendation to the order is one motion.
